Contact High

New Years is all about having a good buzz.  A good time.

SM and I hung out at the house last night but didn't we drink.  He watched football and dozed and I watched The Big Bang Theory and dozed.  We both woke up around 11pm, looked at each other and said "Screw it"...it's time for bed.

Today was all about nothing.  Doing whatever we wanted to.

We watched the CBS morning news for some unknown reason.  They had a piece on Woody Harrelson at his home in Maui.  A different kind of guy for sure.

I guess Woody is also friends with Willie Nelson who's famous for smoking weed.  That got us to talking about Toby Keith's" I'll Never Smoke Weed With Wille Again"   If you never heard this song, give it a whirl.  It's good for a laugh.

I'd put in a pork tenderloin with sauerkraut in the crock pot overnight.  With a bit of beer, brown sugar and 15 hours of low heat, our holiday lunch was tender and succulent.  We cracked a bottle of asti, clinked glasses, and wished 2011 goodbye.

It could have better.

It could also have been a lot worse.

So with full bellies and a slight afternoon buzz, SM retired to the lazy boy with football and an afternoon snooze while I sat out on the back porch in t-shirt and shorts with a good book.  Easily 65 degrees out there.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love the South?

Never fear...Reality will hit hard in 2 days time when the high's will only be in the 30's and the lows in the 20's.  Brrrr.

So get a good buzz on and smile.  Happy New Years ya'll!

  1. Wait! That sounds just like my New Years. Currently sunny and 60 in the garden here in the CA Bay Area. Husband is watching the 49'ers and I'll be doing some digital scrapbooking. Life is good!

    Happy New year!

  2. OK, I've gotta try your recipe! I hadn't thought about crock potting overnight, but it sounds like an excellent idea.

About those strawberries. Having been defeated two years in a row by Bermuda grass, I'm at my wits end about how to grow strawberries. I'm fixin' to dig up what I can and try a third location this year. I just have to figure out where!

  3. Hello Tami,
I'm the gut thatLeigh talked about with the worms. I also live in N.C. and have no problems with the worms outside in the heat! I live near the coast and have two wooden beds (3 X 7) with lids. And the worms do just fine. This April will be my second year with them. I started with about 1000 (1 lb.) and have 4 - 5000 now.
    You can do it too!
