Everyone

I went out into the soft, damp darkness this morning and went for a long, long walk with the dogs.

And cried.

Dogs are nice that way.  You can have a conversation with God, one on one and ask him all the tough questions.

But when you need a moment, just to yourself to come to grips, the dogs are there.  You're not alone.  And that's a nice kind of comfort.

I'm a silent crier for the most part, but they knew.

Walking in the dark, snotty nosed, sniffling and wiping tears off my face with my jacket sleeve.  They knew.

Somehow.

Casey in particular walked closer to me for a few minutes during the worst of it.

And when we got home and I bent down to take off their collars, they cleaned my face with puppy kisses.

It'll hit me on and off today, I know it will.  But SM will be here to give me a hug when I need it, and I can snuggle with the pups as needed.

Take what comfort you can today.

And may God bless us...everyone.

  1. My heart aches for what has happened on the other side of the world.

And I'm angry. Angry at the arrogance and selfishness of one sick individual.

May God grant those left behind solace and comfort, and enclose those who died within His loving arms.

May God bless and take care of you all.

  2. Tears are always right there. The grief is beyond my comprehension. All I can do from here is pray. A nearly constant stream of anguished prayers for all those families.

  4. My tears are falling with yours. The shock and pain I'm feeling is something I have no words for. A long walk in the snow here is good too.
