It's A Fine Line...

"I just want you to know that I'm filling up the bathtub."  I said to SM as I walked through the house.  "You know...For when the power goes out."  I added.

"I know how your mind works."  SM replied, eyes rolling.

SM and I look at the world differently.  SM always thinks the best, you know, he's a Rainbow and Unicorns kinda guy, while I on the other hand tend to watch the road we're walking for potholes and steer clear of trouble if I can.

"You know there's a fine line between paranoia and preparation."  I announce.

SM laughed.  "And if the power goes out for a few days I'll be glad to have that water when I'm wondering how I'm gonna flush the toilet."

The ruler says close to 5 inches of the white stuff on the ground but I'm starting to hear that tap-tap-tapping of sleet on the windows.

It's a fine line between snow, sleet and freezing rain.
It's also a fine line between comfort, inconvenience and stupidity.

We might not be comfortable when the power goes out, but we won't do anything stupid either.

Wish us luck!

  1. I wish you snow instead of ice. And I sure hope your power doesn't go out! A fine line indeed - I tend to look for the potholes, myself.

  2. I look for potholes too...
(I figure if any unicorns or rainbows stop by I won't miss 'em - I'll see them reflected in the pothole water, roflmao).
Power to the prepared I say! :-) especially when you find yourself powerLESS (which I hope you won't)

  3. I hope we both don't lose power! The first flakes of snow are approaching Fairfax Virginia right now. The pictures from down south, Raleigh specifically, have been just as bad as what hit further south last time. The news is calling for 2 inches of snow per hour with sleet and freezing rain to follow. I live in an area where the power lines are above ground and there are a LOT of huge old trees. Something says that I'm going to be very grateful for our fireplace.

  4. Right there with you. Bathtub filled, new propane tank with heater attachment, oil lamp, candles, and 15 gallons of gas for the generator. I didn't go to work today and thankful I didn't. Another day of it so we'll see. Good luck.
