Bloom Time

Finally.

The summer garden is finally starting to get cranked up.

The clover in our yard is attracting bees but so are the squash blossoms.

I picked our first batch of yellow summer squash.

The tomatoes are setting.

And I even have broccoli.
Yes, actual heads of broccoli!!!
I've NEVER had broccoli.

EVER.

This is a first!  SM just looked at them and said "Needs cheese..."  @;)

No apples this year (late frost) but I see a few raspberries.

I'm also hopeful for a handful of blueberries or two.  But the BEST news is that the zinnia's are starting to bloom.

Bring on jars and jars of flowers everywhere.  At home and at work!

  1. Wow, seems like you jumped into summer FAST! (Or maybe it's just our slow, slow, s-l-o-w cool month of June that is making me feel like we'll never have either summer or a harvest from the garden.) Love SM's reaction to being shown the head of broccoli!

    1. We've been slow too MP. My sugar peas just finished. They're usually done mid May. The lettuce is starting to blot which it normally does about mid June.

  2. Oooh, broccoli! Never could get mine to come to a head, so to speak. Your zinnias are beautiful! I have to say, your garden is so far ahead of mine. I could be that we seem to have been going back to March up here.

    1. That's been my experience with broccoli too. Just florets, no heads.

  3. I really, REALLY need to plant some zinnias. I think it was your posts on all the cut flowers that made me want to do a flower garden this year.....but I didn't get to it. Hopefully next year. Those flowers really do make my day.

  4. I keep waiting for my broccoli to start having heads. We aren't there yet though. I can't wait. I love broccoli - with or without the cheese.

  6. Looking great! This was not a good year from broccoli here. We barely had any. So congrats on that!
We seem to be a couple of weeks behind you on the summer stuff. I'll be happy when our gardens look as good as yours!
