B is For...Boredom? Begonias? Blue Bunny?

As much as I love Fall, I'm just not into the whole 'fall-back" time thingy.

I mean this is really gonna screw with me.

The thing is...I have one simple rule.
Sleep first.
Everything else (as in life) comes after that.

It's not a bad philosophy since I can get maybe 3 hours of uninterrupted snooze time before I start tossing and turning.

Hot, cold.
Thirsty.
Ooops...Gotta pee.
Hot.
Really hot!
Ew, sweaty too.

You get the idea.

Anyhow, the point I was trying to make is that I usually start falling asleep around 7:30 -8 ish.  I try to get up around 4-5 ish for dog walking and my own exercising.

With the time change, this means that I'm falling asleep around 6:30 and getting up around 3am.

Yuck.
I think a large part of my desire to sleep is because I'm bored once it gets dark.  I usually come home from work, kickback and relax.  Snoozefest.

In order to combat the boredom that comes with "the dark days", I've decided to start a jigsaw puzzle under the bright lights of the kitchen table.  SM helped me select a few puzzles and then asked me if we had a deck of cards.

"Yes, we do and don't forget we also have scrabble."  It seems someone else is nodding off early around here too.

Hopefully, these early evening activities will help us both adjust to the time change quickly.

We went to the Charlotte Farmers Market the other weekend.  I grabbed my fabric bag to fill up with fresh veggies but the prices seemed really high so we just wandered around and looked at stuff instead.

SM managed to find a French bakery (a new business in town) and bought eclairs, turnovers and danish's from them.  His hands were stuffed with a big white box and a bag of goodies.

I then dragged SM over to the GreenShed and poked around looking for something to sit on my kitchen table since our zinnia's are on borrowed time.
I ended up having a nice chat with a lady and bought a beautiful begonia from her.

As we walked back to the car, I pointed out to SM that "Anyone can see where our priorities lie."

SM with food and me with plants.

There's just something about having a live plant to look at that helps me get through the Winter and reminds me that Spring will be here soon enough.

And what's that about a Blue Bunny?

No...not that kind of Blue Bunny.

For those of you in other parts of the country (or outside the US) Blue Bunny is a brand of ice cream that just kick's all other ice cream's to the curb.

I know.  Trust me.

Blue Bunny Vanillia Bean.
Blue Bunny Homemade Chocolate.
Blue Bunny Double Strawberry.

And my current favorite Blue Bunny Bordeaux Cherry Chocolate.

Why do I bring up this deliciousness?

Because if I get bored playing my puzzles I just might kick back in my recliner with my Blue Bunny.  And once I've eaten my fill, I just might lean back and take a little snooze.

Even if it is only 7:00 at night.

*Blue Bunny might be responsible for my ever widening derriere.  See my previous post "A is For..." for further clarification. @;)

  1. Ha! We are two for two . . . when the sun goes down, so do I!

I do believe a French bakery in town would be the beginning of the end for me.

    Keep 'em coming, Tami!

    1. Cheese, wine, ice cream and popcorn. That's all I need to get me through the day!

  2. Breyers Yellow Oreo here. Love that stuff.
Time change will definitely hit us later I'm sure.

  3. Your begonia is lovely. I've always said if I were wealthy (as in having more money than I could spend), I'd have fresh flowers (okay, some blooming plants, too) in every room . . . always.

It's only 6:14 a.m. as I write this and my mouth actually watered looking at the picture of the ice cream. (My favoritest "sweet" downfall.) I've also been lately bemoaning the lack of a bakery in our town. So, if you wouldn't mind, please no more references to ice cream or fresh bakery items . . . we're heading into the season when the hibernating bear in me tends to put on some winter fat!

  4. OMG. Do I ever (maybe - derriere thing) wish I could get Blue Bunny ice cream. I am so with you on the fall back thing. What a waste. I have a hard enough time staying awake to get things done before they lop off any chance of lightness when I get home from work.
