Mirror Mirror On The Wall

I had a Come To Jesus moment the other day.

We were at SM's nephew's house for Christmas Dinner and they live in a very nice house.  They have this odd little powder room that is all angles.  Like five walls.  And on two of the walls facing each other there are these HUGE mirrors.

Now as I've gotten older I admit to a tendency of avoiding looking at myself too closely.

So I'm standing there washing my hands when I look up into the mirror and think "Whose ass is that?"

I twist and turn...Holy crap!  Have I gotten that big?

My belly's big.
My hips are big.
My ass is...

Well, you get the picture.

I mentioned this to SM who said "Yeah, I don't like that bathroom either."

"Well, I can't get this outta my head.  I've got to do something."

It's just as well that the New Year is right around the corner along with all those diet commercials.  I don't personally plan on going that route.  I'll just try and do the sensible route of increasing output and decreasing input.

Wish me luck (Ha!) and Goodbye Blue Bunny....{{{sob}}}

  1. Yeah, sometimes it's down right scary (and depressing and upsetting and . . . ) when we get a glimpse of what other people see (what our bodies actually look like) when we're walking around naturally and not standing in front of a single mirror (unconsciously, I do believe) holding in our tummies and throwing back the slightly slumping shoulders. ( My advice? Don't ever go back in that bathroom again.)

  2. You have to master the "eye" zoom lens. I can stand in front of a full length mirror and see only my eye. The rest is not there, as far as I'm concerned. I'm looking forward to getting more active, as long as the temperatures stay above 10. Below that, it's every woman for herself! Blue Bunny???? What happened to Blue Bunny????

  3. How does that happen? Photos are almost worse than mirrors. Those candid shots that my brothers take during the holidays must be of someone else. Really?? That's what I look like?? Oh my goodness!!

  4. "Increasing output, decreasing input..." best description ever! We're going to take that to heart as well. Hey it happens to guys too. I find myself avoiding our mirrors, what few we have, ha.

  5. This is one of the "biggest" (pun intended) reasons that I don't like shopping right now. Those dressing room mirrors are the pits! But I also agree with odiie that seeing holiday photos can be a real eye full. Why doesn't the picture that I carry in my head match those?!
