Tis The Season

We woke up to a hard freeze this morning.

Goodbye mosquito's.

Goodbye flies.

Goodbye spiders, fleas, no-see-ums and pretty much any other creepy-crawlies you can think of.

Hello fuzzy slippers.
Hello warm soft blankets.

Hello soups and casseroles.
Hot tea, hot cocoa and hot cookies.

Hello to sticking my nose out the door to see if I want to take a walk at 5am and Hello to laziness and an extra 5 lbs when I decide not to.

Hello to sunny warm spots on kitchen floors with puppies sacked out sleeping.

Hello holidays.

I'm actually in the mood for you this year.
Shocking isn't it?
Go figure.

Are you?

  1. Goodbye skeeters-YAY!
We are having a taste of fall for three days and then temps go back into the 80's. UGH. I bought the Thanksgiving turkey yesterday, and I surely hope we get another cold snap before then. It's just not the holidays without the brrrrr.

Enjoy some hot chocolate for me! ;0D

    1. I had too many typos in my post so I deleted it and will re-post. I am ready for cool weather, but I do not like snow or ice. In our neck of the woods winter is supposed to be milder. Less snow and warmer. I have already put up one tree. I love Christmas and decorate in stages. Will do so over the next several weeks. I generally have only one weekend day really free. So that is why I do it in stages. If I had to do it it all in one weekend it would not be fun.

  3. In the mood for the holidays? A little bit . . . so far. Our weather continues to be very mild and un-November-like. Figures. Last spring/early summer we had prolonged cold weather. So now when it should be cold . . . it feels balmy and spring-ish out there. It's saving on our winter's wood supply though, so that's a real plus.

  4. We haven't had our first frost yet but looks like it may be on the horizon. Ready for the holidays? Nah, but maybe it'll get better in a week or so.

  5. Recently I made a pleasant discovery. I wasn't itching anywhere. There were no bug bites on my body, at all. For that, and more, I am grateful for the cold weather. :)
